SNU Engineering Dean Professor Kun Woo Lee (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering), recognized for his 10 years of volunteering as the editor of the Elsevier Journal ‘Computer-Aided Design’, was awarded the Elsevier Editor Emeritus Award last 26th of October.
Elsevier, as the world’s best publisher of medical and scientific technology, has been the provider of professional material to over 30 million healthcare practitioners, scientists and engineering from all over the world. The Elseveir published journal ‘Computer-Aided Design’ deals with the development and design of complex car, plane and ship parts with the aid of a computer (CAD/CAM sector), and it is the oldest prestigious journal in the CAD/CAM sector. Dean KunWoo Lee was elected the editor of the CAD journal in 2004 where he spent the next 10 years editing the world’s journals.
On the other hand, Dean Lee was appointed a professor of the SNU Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 1986, and continued on as the vice president of the Society for Computational Design and Engineering and as the president of KSME. Last 2006, he was selected for the 2nd Kyung Ahm Academy award for his contributions to the CAD Systems research and the domestic workforce. Last year, he was elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a position only given to 2% of the 12 thousand members.
