Ph.D. Student Joon Ha Jung Claims the Excellent Student Paper Award in the 2014 KSME Fall Competition

Ph.D. student Joon Ha Jung of Professor Byeng Dong Youn’s System Health and Risk Management lab claimed the Excellent Student Paper award in the 2014 KSME Fall Competition with the research titled “Datum Justification of Journal Bearing Fault Diagnosis System”, being commended for its excellence and uniqueness.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Ph.D. student Joon Ha Jung proposed a new method for effectively diagnosing the faults in a journal bearing. He justified the basic unit of the extraction of the featuring factor of a vibration signal that holds physical meaning and took it a step further proposing a new criteria for the evaluation of the classification capabilities of each featuring factor. The research was commended for the fact it can be used universally on journal bearing systems.
