Professor Ho-Young Kim’s Research Team Selected for Remarkable Research by APS
SNUMAE Professor Ho-Young Kim’s research team’s paper titled “Moisture-driven actuators inspired by motility of plants” was selected by the American Physical Society and introduced to the press as remarkable research during the 68th Annual Division of Fluid Dynamics Meeting held in Boston, US last November 2015.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The team developed an actuator based on the movement of plants in different water and humidity conditions, and followed through by building a robot that moved forward using changes in humidity. The robot shows a relative fast body-length to movement speed ratio compared to other soft robots that run of hydro energy without the aid of electricity.
