Ph.D. Student Byeong Hyun Kang Claims Bronze in the 22nd Samsung Electronics Human Tech Paper Award
SNU ME Ph.D. Student Byeong Hyun Kang of professor Kyu-Jin Cho’s bio-robotics lab claimed the Bronze Award in the 22nd Samsung Electronics Human Tech Paper Awards held last 3rd February 2016, with the paper titled “Exo-Glove Poly: Soft Polymer-based Tendon-driven Wearable Robotic Hand for Spinal Cord Injury”<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The above paper was the first to reveal the Exo-Glove Poly and its capabilities for patients with spinal cord injury and hand paralysis aimed to recover some hand related abilities using the flexible, wearable hand robot. The Exo-Glove Poly was presented at the AAAS annual meeting (American Association for the Advancement of Science) on the 15th of February 2016, in Washington DC and was later featured in media such as
IEEE Spectrum, Science News for Students, 동아 사이언스, ETH Zurich, Engadget, iREAL, Wired and more.
