Ph.D. student Jeong Hoon Song of professor Seung Jin Song’s lab has claimed the Excellent Journal Award with the research titled “solar and battery system for peak cut shared by commercial and housing buildings” in the 2016 The Korean Society for new and Renewable Energy Spring Scholar Competition held on 23^rd May to 25^th.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The paper regarding the battery installation on housing units and commercial buildings found out that sharing a battery as opposed to both buildings each having a battery reduces the maximum Hydro power required by a large percentage, hence saving on costs associated with battery capacity. The paper also proved that the reason for the percentage drop was due to the discharge rate difference resulting from a load rate difference.
