SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kun Woo Lee) held a donation ceremony on the 25th for Function Bay, an engineering software development firm, providing “RecurDyn”, a dynamics analysis software worth 6 billion won.
The Received program RecurDyn’s primary usage will be focused on the theory and practice sessions of dynamics for the MAE students and Graduates. On top of proving RecurDyn, Function Bay plans to provide education and skills for usage of this program.
RecurDyn is the first dynamics analysis software in Asia developed using independent technology, which can be used as a replacement to actual hardware by using computer simulations to design and test development of products such as cars, architectural machines, office products, robots, etc. The use of this program vastly reduces costs and time associated with the production.
The CEO of Function Bay Kyung-Cheon Jang said “ CAE software is widely used in the field today, but undergraduates rarely get the chance to handle these programs. With the donation of RecurDyn, I hope this will be a stimulus for engineering students to be able to use these programs not only during practice sessions but in real world situations as well.
On the other hand Function Bay, an engineering software development firm, exports RecurDyn to 30 countries worldwide, with the program, worth 80 million dollars, holding 2nd place in the dynamics simulation industry. More information on RecurDyn and enquiries related to its licensing can be found on the support section of Function Bay’s website (http:// support.functionbay.com). The program is currently for same through CMET.
