Dr. Taejin Kim (left) and Dr. Heonjun Yoon (right), alumni of SNU Laboratory for System Health and Risk Management (Advisor: Prof. Byeng Dong Youn), were appointed as assistant professors at the Jeonbuk National University Dept. of Industrial and Information Systems Engineering and Soongsil University Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, respectively.

Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. degree in February 2017. After gaining experience as a researcher at the university’s Institute of Advanced Machines and Design, he went to work as senior researcher at LG Electronics Materials & Production Engineering Research Institute. Starting from September 1st, he will be employed at the Dept. of Industrial and Information Systems Engineering at Jeonbuk National University. His research area includes smart production and big data. 

Dr. Yoon received his Ph.D. degree in February 2018. After working as a researcher at the university’s Institute of Advanced Machines and Design, he was selected for the Post-doctoral Overseas Training program of the National Research Foundation of Korea. From September 2019, he conducted joint research with Prof. Alper Erturk’s team at George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. Starting from September 1st, 2020, he will be employed at the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at Soongsil University. His research areas include piezoelectric vibration energy harvesting, elastic metamaterials, and AI-based design.
