5. 내 용 :
Management consulting is counseling top management of corporates/institutions
for their most important issues. Based on functional/industrial expertise from
global network and problem solving methodologies built from accumulated know-
how and critical thinkings, management consultants help clients to solve most
challenging business issues. By function, coverage includes organizational,
strategic, marketing, operational, financial issues, and by industry, coverage
includes high-tech, telecom, health care, financial institutions, industrial,
retail. More details around the nature of the work we do, career development
path, and opportunities for engineering/science background will be discussed. Also, detailed case examples will be discussed from operational improvements
(e.g., design-to-cost and strategic procurement), organizational improvement
(e.g., change management) to industry-specific cases (e.g., risk management for
a bank).

Seungheon Song is an Engagement Manager in the Seoul Office of McKinsey &
Company, Incorporated. Since joining the Seoul Office in October 2002, he has
worked in engagements across different functions and industries with primary
focuses on high-tech and semiconductor. Prior to joining McKinsey, Seungheon
was a project manager in Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd (1996-2002), where he
initiated and led Samsung’s next generation memory development team. He is an
author of 11 journal papers, 19 conference papers, and 11 semiconductor related
patents, and he was an invited speaker at several major international conferences
and forums including APS, IEEE IEDM, Nikkei Microelectronics. Seungheon Song is
a graduate of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) where he has received
his Ph.D. in Physics. He also received B.S. degrees in Physics from KAIST (Korea
Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
