1. 주 제: " Short Course on Autonomous Mobile Manipulation "
2. 연 사 : Prof. Oliver Brock (Dept. Computer Science, Univ. Massachusetts, Amherst)
5. 내 용 :
Robots are leaving the strictly controlled surroundings of assembly lines in factories and are entering everyday environments. In these environments, there are many exciting application for robotics. They range from elder care and household assistants to flexible manufacturing, planetary exploration, automated supply chain support, remote maintenance, or explosive ordnance disposal. Commensurate with the societal, economical, and scientific importance of these applications are the challenges of deploying autonomous robots in the unstructured and dynamic environments associated with these applications. Most of these challenges arise from the uncertainty of sensing and actuation and from the enormity of the associated state space. In this seminar, I will present an integrated view of how these challenges might be addressed. I will begin by discussing some of the elementary capabilities a robot has to possess to operate safely in unstructured environments: the ability to move and to perceive its environment. These abilities will be the main subject of the seminar. I will progress to higher levels of abstraction and present ideas and concepts of how such fundamental abilities may be combined into higher-level skills.
6. 약 력 :
Oliver Brock is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He received his Computer Science Diploma in 1993 from the Technical University of Berlin and his Masters and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 1994 and 2000, respectively. He was a co-founder and CTO of an Internet startup called AllAdvantage.com. He also held post-doc positions at Rice University and Stanford University. At the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Oliver is affiliated with the Robotics and Biology Laboratory and the Computational Biology Laboratory. His research focuses on Autonomous Mobile Manipulation and the application of robotic algorithms to problems in Structural Molecular Biology
