5. 내 용 : Presented in this seminar is a new, efficient discrete-time domain system identification/model reduction method for linear dynamic systems with multiple inputs. The method is based on a modification of the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm (ERA) and a simultaneous excitation of multiple inputs, also known as the Single-Composite-Input (SCI). Since the system response is sampled almost exclusively for the single representative input, this technique can significantly reduce model construction time when applied to large-scaled computational fluid dynamic (CFD) models where moving surface boundary is normally described by many structural mode inputs. Application to general CFD systems and formulation of reduced-order aeroelastic models are also presented. Later, this approach is used for rapid, accurate flutter analysis at an affordable cost. For a demonstration of the method, a representative Boeing transonic wind tunnel airplane modeled by FEM and CFL3D is studied. It is shown that for the case of ten structural mode shapes the proposed scheme can reduce the model construction time by a factor of four to six, yet its unsteady aerodynamic and flutter results are as accurate as those created by other reduction methods.

6. 약 력 : Dr. Kim has worked at the Boeing Company for 8 years. Prior to this, he was a research associate at Georgia Tech. Dr. Kim’s areas of specialty are structural dynamics and aeroservoelasticity, reduced-order modeling of large-scaled dynamic systems, structural optimization and integration of dynamic systems. At Boeing, he has developed innovative computational tools to enhance rapid estimation of dynamic loads, flutter and control laws, all of which are essential to designing modern aircraft. He is currently working on system identification and order reduction of unsteady aerodynamic and aeroelastic models based on CFD technology. He received his B.S. and M.E. degrees from Ajou University, M.S. from University of Texas at Austin, and Ph.D. from MIT (Aeronautics and Astronautics, 1992).
