1. 제 목 : Topology optimization in acoustic and fluid problems
2. 연 사 : Ole Sigmund (with Jakob S. Jensen and Allan Gersborg-Hansen)
(Technical University of Denmark)
3. 일 시 : 2004년 3월 5일 (금) 오후 4:30
4. 장 소 : 301동 1512호 (세미나실)
5. 내 용 :
The topology optimization method is a computational method based on finite element modeling which can determine the distribution of material in a structure that optimizes some objective function and at the same time fulfills some constraints. The method was originally developed for structural mechanics type problems but has in recent years been extended and applied to a range of other physics problems as well as multi physics problems. In the talk, we will discuss extensions of the topology optimization method to acoustic and fluid-mechanics applications. The acoustic problem implies solving Helmholtz equations and materials to be distributed are air and a high impedance material that reflects waves. We show examples of resonators, acoustic horns and multiplexors. The fluid problem implies solving Navier-Stokes equations for stationary, incompressible, viscous flow at moderate Reynolds numbers and “materials” to be distributed are flow or obstacles. We show examples of minimum flow resistance structures and flow-reverting mechanisms.
6. 약 력 :
Ole Sigmund obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D.-degrees at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 1991 and 1995, respectively. He worked as a Research Assistant at University of Essen, Germany, 1991-92 and was a Postdoc at Princeton University, USA, 1995-96. Since then, he has been employed at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, DTU – since 2001 as a full Professor. Research interests are applications of topology optimization in multi physics problems and he teaches courses in basic mechanics, finite element methods and structural optimization. In 2003 he co-authored the book “Topology Optimization; Theory, Method and Applications”, M. P. Bendsøe and O. Sigmund, Springer Verlag.
